CUSTOM ORDER POLICY

Custom jewelry is one of the most meaningful parts of my work. Because every custom piece is made specifically for one client, the process is a little different than purchasing ready-to-wear jewelry. The goal is always to make sure you feel confident, informed, and excited every step of the way.

Design Fees

A non-refundable design fee may be required for fully custom projects that require original design work.
This applies to projects such as:

  • completely custom pieces

  • heirloom redesigns

  • projects requiring CAD or multiple revisions

The design fee covers time spent planning, sourcing, and developing the design, and will be applied toward the final cost if the project moves forward.
Design fees are not charged for simple projects using pre-made settings or vendor components.

Payment

Because custom pieces are made specifically for you, payment is required before work begins.
For most custom orders, one of the following will apply:

  • Full payment upfront for smaller projects

  • 50% deposit for larger or more complex projects

Vendor orders, special orders, and custom parts must be paid in full before ordering.
All payments for custom work are non-refundable once production has started.

Changes & Approvals

Work begins only after the design and price are approved.
Changes requested after approval may result in additional charges and timeline changes.

Timeline

Estimated timelines are provided when the project is approved.
Because custom jewelry involves casting, stone setting, and finishing, timelines may vary slightly.
Rush orders are not always possible.

Client-Provided Materials

Working with previously worn jewelry or client-provided stones carries some risk due to age, wear, or unknown history.
While every precaution is taken, Fortuitous Fine Jewelry cannot guarantee against damage or stone loss when working with existing materials.

Custom Orders Are Final Sale

All custom, personalized, resized, engraved, or specially ordered items are final sale and cannot be returned.
If there is ever a problem with craftsmanship, I will always work with you to make it right.

Timeline & Completion Estimates

Estimated timelines are provided for each custom project based on the information available at the time of approval. Custom jewelry involves multiple steps, including sourcing materials, casting, stone setting, and finishing, so exact completion dates cannot be guaranteed.
Delays may occur due to vendor availability, shipping, stone sourcing, casting schedules, or unforeseen production issues.
Fortuitous Fine Jewelry is not responsible for delays caused by suppliers, shipping carriers, or circumstances outside of our control.
If a piece is needed by a specific date, this must be discussed before the project begins. Rush orders may not always be possible and may require additional fees.
Work will not begin until the design is approved and required payment has been received.

Unclaimed Items & Outstanding Balances

Completed work must be picked up within a reasonable time after notification that the piece is finished.
Items with an outstanding balance must be paid in full before delivery or pickup.
Fortuitous Fine Jewelry is not responsible for items left unclaimed for more than 60 days after completion notice has been given. Storage fees may be charged for items left beyond this time.
Items left unclaimed for more than 120 days may be considered abandoned unless other arrangements have been made in writing. In such cases, Fortuitous Fine Jewelry reserves the right to resell the item or retain the deposit to recover the cost of labor and materials.
If a project is cancelled after work has begun, payments made are non-refundable, and additional charges may apply depending on the stage of production.
